The best Ahrefs alternative for most teams in 2026 is Semrush if you want the closest all-in-one match, or SE Ranking if you want similar research and daily rank tracking for less money. Moz Pro is the friendliest budget suite, Majestic is the specialist pick for backlink analysis, and Ahrefs' own free plan plus Google Search Console covers a surprising amount for a single site.
This guide is for e-commerce brands, in-house marketers and agencies deciding whether to keep paying for Ahrefs or switch. You'll get what Ahrefs costs now, a way to decide which jobs you actually need a tool for, six alternatives ranked on merit with pricing we checked on each vendor's own page on October 27, 2026, a side-by-side table and a step-by-step plan for switching without losing your history.
Why people look for an Ahrefs alternative
Ahrefs is one of the strongest SEO research tools on the market, especially for backlinks and competitor research. People look for alternatives for three practical reasons, not because the data is bad.
- Cost. Ahrefs' paid plans run from $129 to $449 a month before Enterprise, and each plan includes one user. Extra users cost $40, $60 or $80 a month depending on the plan.
- Usage limits. The Lite plan includes 1,000 credits per user, five non-verified projects and six months of historical data. Teams that research heavily hit those limits quickly.
- Fit. Ahrefs' Rank Tracker lists weekly updates. If daily rankings or client reporting are your main job, a tool built around them may suit you better.
Before switching, be honest about which of these applies. If cost is the issue but you use Ahrefs daily for link research, a cheaper plan or a free alternative for part of the work may be smarter than leaving entirely.

- Starter, $29 a month: described as a way to see what people search and research competitors. The pricing page lists Rank Tracker among the Lite features, so don't count on rank tracking at this tier.
- Lite, $129 a month: 750 tracked keywords, 1,000 credits per user, 100,000 crawl credits, five non-verified projects and six months of history.
- Standard, $249 a month: 2,000 tracked keywords, no per-user credit cap, 500,000 crawl credits, 20 non-verified projects and two years of history.
- Advanced, $449 a month: 5,000 tracked keywords, 1,500,000 crawl credits, 50 non-verified projects and five years of history.
- Enterprise, $1,499 a month: requires an annual commitment and includes uncapped API access and unlimited history.
Add-ons push the total higher. Report Builder is $99 a month, Brand Radar AI starts at $199 a month and extra AI prompt packages start at $50 a month. For a three-person team on Standard, two extra users alone add $120 a month.
How to choose the right Ahrefs alternative
Most comparison posts list features. A better approach is to list the jobs you actually use Ahrefs for and pick the tool that does those jobs well. Use this table to match the job to the tool.
| Your main job | What to look for | Best fit | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everything in one place | Keyword research, backlinks, site audit and rank tracking in one suite | Semrush, SE Ranking | Entry plans that cap tracked keywords or projects too low for your sites |
| Daily rank tracking and client reports | Daily updates, client logins, white-label reports | SE Ranking, or a dedicated rank tracker | Weekly updates, or white-label sold as an add-on you didn't budget for |
| Backlink research and link building | Large link index, historic data, anchor text and referring domains | Majestic, Semrush, SE Ranking | Low row limits on exports |
| Small budget, one or two sites | Low entry price, simple interface, enough keyword allowance | Moz Pro, Serpstat | Paying for agency features you'll never use |
| Your own site only | Free access to your own backlinks, rankings and crawl issues | Ahrefs Free, Google Search Console | Expecting competitor data from a free tool |
One more factor that most lists skip: who needs a login. Per-user pricing is often what makes Ahrefs expensive for teams, so compare the price for your actual number of users, not the headline plan price.

The 6 best Ahrefs alternatives, ranked
We ranked these on how well each replaces Ahrefs for an e-commerce or Shopify business: research depth, backlink data, rank tracking, team cost and price. QCK is an SEO agency, not a software vendor, and we have no affiliate relationship with any of these tools. Every price and feature below comes from the vendor's own pricing page, checked October 27, 2026. We did not run accuracy tests, so we make no claims about whose data is more accurate.
1. Semrush: closest all-in-one replacement
Semrush is the tool most often compared with Ahrefs because it covers the same ground: keyword research, competitor analysis, site audits, position tracking and AI visibility, with a large set of extra modules. It has restructured its pricing. The current plans are SEO at $139 a month ($117.33 billed annually), Starter at $199 ($165.17), Pro+ at $299 ($248.17) and a custom Advanced tier.
The SEO plan includes site audit and position tracking, 500 keywords tracked daily and five websites, plus basic keyword research and competitor analysis. Pro+ raises that to 1,500 daily keywords and 15 websites. There is a free plan with one demo project and 10 reports a day, and a seven-day trial. Extra users start at $45 a month, and white-label reports come with the $20 a month Pro Report add-on.
Choose it if you want one platform that replaces Ahrefs plus some of your content and AI visibility tooling. Check which plan includes the specific research tools you rely on, since Semrush's new plan pages split features differently from its old Pro, Guru and Business tiers.
2. SE Ranking: best value all-in-one
SE Ranking offers keyword, competitor and backlink research, a website audit, daily rank tracking and AI visibility tracking at a lower price than Ahrefs. The Core plan is $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) and includes 2,000 keywords tracked daily, unlimited keyword, competitor and backlink research, a 250,000-page monthly audit, 100 AI prompts tracked daily and API credits. Growth is $279 a month ($223.20 annually) with 5,000 daily keywords and three manager seats.
For agencies, the Agency Pack adds 30 client seats and white-label reporting for $69 a month on annual billing. There's a 14-day free trial with no credit card.
Choose it if rank tracking matters as much as research. At the same $129 entry price as Ahrefs Lite, SE Ranking's Core plan lists 2,000 daily-tracked keywords against Ahrefs Lite's 750 weekly-tracked keywords.
3. Moz Pro: best budget suite for small teams
Moz Pro combines keyword research, a link index, site crawl and rank tracking. Moz says its Link Explorer covers over 40 trillion links and its keyword index holds 1.25 billion+ keywords. Standard is $99 a month ($79 billed annually) with 300 tracked keywords, three sites and one user. Medium is $179 ($143 annually) with 1,500 keywords, 10 sites and two users. Large is $299 ($239 annually) with 3,000 keywords, 25 sites and three users. A $49 Starter plan targets people managing a single website, and extra seats are $49 a month.
Choose it if you manage one to three sites and want a familiar, simple suite with AI visibility features included on every main plan.
4. Majestic: best for backlink analysis
Majestic does one thing: backlink data. It's best known for its Trust Flow metric. Lite is $49.99 a month ($41.67 billed annually) with the Fresh Index, Site Explorer, Link Graph, Link Context, Trust Flow, referring domains, bulk backlink checks and 5,000 Site Explorer data rows. Pro is $99.99 a month ($83.33 annually) and adds the Historic Index, backlink history, custom reports, raw data exports and 30,000 data rows. API is $399.99 a month with full API access and five users.
Choose it if you used Ahrefs mostly for link research. Majestic does not include keyword research or rank tracking, so pair it with Search Console or a rank tracker.
5. Serpstat: best low-cost team plan
Serpstat is an all-in-one SEO platform, and its pricing page lists backlink analysis and rank tracking on every plan. Individual is $50 a month with 10,000 rank tracker position checks a month. Team is $100 a month with three users, Team x2 is $169 with six users, and Agency is $410 with 30 users and 500,000 position checks a month. Annual billing saves up to 27%, according to the pricing page.
Choose it if you need several team members in one account on a small budget. Note that Serpstat counts rank tracking in monthly position checks, so a keyword checked daily uses about 30 checks a month.
6. Ahrefs Free and Google Search Console: best free option
If you only need data on sites you own, you may not need a paid tool at all. Ahrefs' free plan gives verified site owners Site Explorer, Site Audit and Web Analytics, with unlimited verified sites, 5,000 crawl credits a month per project and up to 1,000 backlinks and keywords visible at once. Google Search Console is free and shows the queries, clicks, impressions and average position for your site from Google's own data.
The limit is competitor research. Neither tool shows you a competitor's backlinks or keywords in depth. For that, you need one of the paid tools above.

Ahrefs vs the alternatives: side by side
This table compares the entry paid plan of each tool on the factors that usually decide a switch. All figures are from vendor pricing pages on October 27, 2026, with monthly billing.
| Tool | Entry paid plan | Tracked keywords | Users | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ahrefs | Lite, $129/mo | 750, weekly updates | 1 (extra $40/mo) | Backlink and competitor research |
| Semrush | SEO, $139/mo | 500, daily | Extra users from $45/mo | All-in-one replacement |
| SE Ranking | Core, $129/mo | 2,000, daily | 1 manager seat | Value and rank tracking |
| Moz Pro | Standard, $99/mo | 300 | 1 (extra $49/mo) | Small teams, one to three sites |
| Majestic | Lite, $49.99/mo | None (backlinks only) | 1 | Link research |
| Serpstat | Individual, $50/mo | 10,000 position checks a month | 1 | Budget teams |
Two things stand out. Ahrefs and SE Ranking share the same $129 entry price, but the allowances differ. And Majestic and Serpstat cost less than half of Ahrefs Lite, but each trades away something: Majestic has no keyword or ranking tools, and Serpstat measures rank tracking in monthly checks rather than keywords.
Team cost can change the ranking entirely. The chart below is an illustrative example of what three users would cost per month on each tool's entry plan, using each vendor's published seat pricing.

| Value | |
|---|---|
| Ahrefs Lite + 2 users | $209 |
| Semrush SEO + 2 users (min.) | $229 |
| Moz Pro Standard + 2 seats | $197 |

Read that chart with care. Semrush's extra users start at $45, so its figure is a floor. Serpstat's Team plan is a different tier from Individual, and SE Ranking's Growth plan includes three manager seats at $279, so neither is a straight add-on calculation. Moz's Large plan includes three users for $299: more than Standard plus two seats ($197), but with 10 times the tracked keywords.

How to switch from Ahrefs without losing data
Switching tools is where teams lose history. Ranking history in particular doesn't transfer between most tools, so plan the move before you cancel.
- List the jobs and reports you use. Write down every Ahrefs report your team opens in a typical month. If something hasn't been opened in 90 days, you don't need to replace it.
- Export what you can't rebuild. Export Rank Tracker history, backlink lists, referring domains and your top pages and keywords for each project to CSV before your plan ends. Your plan's history limit (six months on Lite, two years on Standard) controls how far back you can go.
- Connect your own data first. Verify your sites in Google Search Console and connect GA4 to your new tool if it supports it. That data belongs to you and stays put no matter which tool you use.
- Run both tools for two to four weeks. Overlap the subscriptions for at least one reporting cycle. Load the same keywords, locations and devices in the new tool and compare trends, not exact positions.
- Rebuild your reports. Recreate client or stakeholder reports in the new tool and send one in parallel so no one is surprised by different numbers.
- Cancel and keep the free plan. Once the new tool covers everything, cancel the paid Ahrefs plan and keep Ahrefs' free plan for your verified sites.
Free tools that fill the gaps
Whichever tool you choose, a few jobs don't need a paid subscription at all. These free QCK tools run on any site and cover gaps that most paid suites handle as a side feature.
- Search Console Quick Wins Analyzer finds queries in positions 5 to 15 with high impressions, the fastest ranking gains on most sites.
- Keyword Cannibalization Checker spots pages competing for the same query, which a rank tracker often shows as a keyword that won't stay put.
- Anchor Text Analyzer reviews the anchor text pointing at your pages.
- Internal Link Checker finds pages that need more internal links, one of the cheapest ways to lift rankings.
- Website SEO Checker runs a quick on-page audit of any URL.
Paired with Search Console and Ahrefs' free plan, these cover a lot of what a single-site e-commerce brand needs day to day. You'll still want a paid suite for competitor keyword and backlink research.
Which Ahrefs alternative should you pick?
Pick Semrush if you want one platform that does everything Ahrefs does and more. Pick SE Ranking if you want strong research plus daily rank tracking for less, especially as an agency. Pick Moz Pro for a simple suite on one to three sites, Majestic if links are your main job, and Serpstat if you need several users on a tight budget. If you only manage your own site, start with Ahrefs Free and Search Console before paying for anything.
Remember that the tool is not the strategy. A better dashboard won't move a collection page from position 9 to position 3; content, internal links, technical fixes and links will. That's the work QCK does for e-commerce and Shopify brands, with an in-house team of writers, developers, data analysts and CRO strategists. We've driven more than $250M in organic revenue for clients, and because QCK was founded by a CPA, we report revenue every month.
